The costs of a trademark application in Switzerland primarily depend on the extent of the application (being the number of classes of goods and services) which also defines the scope of protection. As in other countries in Europe there is a multi-class system for trademark applications in Switzerland. A single application covers up to three classes. To get a Swiss trademark registered the basic official fee for up to three classes amounts to 550 CHF (for ten years). Furthermore, there is a class surcharge of 100 CHF per class as of the 4th class.

What is the protection period of a Swiss trademark registration?
If a trademark application in Switzerland is successful and the Swiss trademark is registered and not attacked by a third party (e.g. by an opposition proceeding) or deleted by the owner, such a trademark is valid for ten years after the application without further costs. Swiss trademarks can be renewed for a period of ten years each for an indefinite period.
